As the semester draws to a close, I am reminded how important hard work is in this last week of class. And by hard work, I mean a menial paper for macroeconomics. And by important, I mean DEARGODWHYAMIDOINGTHISATTHELASTMINUTESTUPIDSTUPIDSTUPID
Yes, it was this exact project which inspired a haiku I posted yesterday. It is not a particularly hard project, to be honest: I have to split a four-page paper with two other people: I write four page papers on my own all the time for fun (In case you haven't noticed my gallery). But the distinguishing characteristic there is "fun." I am as motivated about doing economic analysis of the patient protection and affordable care act as a pacifist being invited to attend the UFC championship. Except at gunpoint. That is to say, I am going to be looking forward to NOT LOSING 20% OF MY GRADE. That does not mean I am looking forward to writing this paper. I guess that's life, though.

Changes to Shard! Specifically, various names that sound completely different. Why? Because I finally invented a language to base them off of. Oh, and chapter 4 is up, of course. One change I anticipate is looking into paragraphing, as per the advice of :iconthenimster:. I'm not sure when I will find the time to do so, but I'm definitely planning on it.

There is a contest for 2000 points (mortemmaul.deviantart.com/jour…) and it has an unusual condition. Frankly, I think it's brilliant. Simply put, you have to write a journal and feature people who you think are exceptional writers and deserve more attention. We'll ignore the fact that I don't have so many watchers myself, because it's a moot point. More than that, I find it amusing that every single person I've mentioned below is one of my watchers. So I decided I would select the three most deserving people I could think of. Without further ado, I present in no particular order (I've come to the conclusion that I personally hate rankings systems)

:iconthenimster:
English may not be his first language, but it's really hard to tell. He's got an epic sci-fi story in the works, and if you haven't read it yet you're missing out. It's very deep and has rich characters. He also takes really good pictures.
The amount he has learned in a short time from a few pieces of feedback reminds me of some all-powerful being who absorbs powers with touch or something badass like that. He actually makes edits to his pieces based on feedback.

This guy only has 3 watchers, but he's almost up over a thousand page views. How does he only have 3 watchers? It is a mystery. Anyhow, he managed to churn out a great poem while drunk. If that's not the mark of a good writer, I don't know what is.

Other stuff he's written tends to be deeper and more meaningful, of course. You will enjoy them.

:iconsincebecomeswhy:
An experienced writer, this guy. He wrote a very powerful nonfiction narrative about going to school with Asperger's Syndrome. As someone with AS myself, I can tell you that this is exactly what it is like. He also gives very meaningful critiques and is an all around good guy-he contributed at least as much to :iconthenimster:'s writing development as I did . He deserves more watchers.

Lately, I have been putting a lot of work into improving Crimson Eclipse, adding more descriptive language and so on. The first chapter is already significantly improved, but keep your eyes peeled for updates to the rest of the chapters as well.

Ever write something, and you thought you were done? Then you find out that you're not done, and you turn around and try to fix that. And in the end, it backfires even more.
So goes my experience with what I am tentatively titling Blacklit Nights. I originally didn't want to write more, because I wanted to focus on my other stuff. The story had been creeping into my mind like an annoying virus that one might hope to cough out of their system. But frankly, I've realized that I had more fun writing Illumination than anything else I've submitted to deviant art thus far. I guess It would be stupid of me to leave it on a shelf now.
It feels odd, because Raleigh is such a flawed character that I have trouble sympathizing with him, at least where he is at the start. I suppose things get a lot more complicated when your characters write themselves. Ral is generally self-centered, spoiled, rich, and otherwise has little to no sense of responsibility....And perhaps that's part of it: I want to see how he becomes a wisecracking badass as shown in Impact, and I want to see the redeeming qualities that seem to lie buried under the surface. But still, he's kinda hard to like as he is now. I'm glad that as I've written it, I have something like six years to drastically change his personality, because he's just so hard to like right now. Surely I'm not the only person who feels this way after reading.

I also love it how I really only write this journals to discuss things with myself but they seem to come out like I think a lot of people are actually bothering to read them. I should probably find a better way of doing this.

Humanist Update

1 min read
So I've just changed the titles of most chapters of "The Humanist," and now they are all -ing verbs like I initially intended. You may ask, "was it really necessary to write a journal entry for all that?" You tell me what it means. Perhaps I'm also trying to hint at something else. (*hint*)
On a similar note, I'm thinking about coming up with a better title. I'm not sure. Originally I was thinking of the word Machinist, and then I went from there. But somehow I'm not sure the title really fits. Any suggestions, perchance?
